Hello everyone. Fall is starting and things are about to get very, very busy for the Post and its members.
On August 27 NSU and the ROTC Department will be hosting a Veterans Recognition at the first home game for the Riverhawks football team. We will be there represented by myself and several other members from the post. NSU is making a table available to us on the North end of the stadium in front of the brick wall and we will be able to hand out information, answer questions, and recruit members. We won't be alone as the rest of the Veterans Service Organizations in the area will be there also. I will be at the table between 3:00 and 4:00, and welcome anyone who wants to participate. Also, if you have a military ID, you can show it at the gate and get a free admission for the game, which starts at 7:00 pm.
I will be ordering several sets of the American Legion Institute books for loan to anyone who wishes to take the course and earn their hat pin. The books won't be in until around the first part of October. As soon as they are available I'll let everyone know.
I would also like to commend our eBoard for their hard work and thank all the members for their support. Let's keep attendance high at the Wednesday night pot lucks. Remember: the money raised there goes for veterans needs.
The District Commanders Fall Tour will be October 1 and 2, and he will be at the post around 8:40 am on the 1st.
Things are going to be interesting and exciting in the future...stay tuned for details as we work them out.

Post 135 Adjutant

I would like to take a moment and thank the membership for its votes of confidence in allowing me to fill the post of Adjutant. I will do the post to the best of my abilities. Any such post or position has a learning curve and while I'm not exactly learning disabled, I can be slow on the uptake at times.
I want to let the membership know that it's going to be an exciting year and to look forward to the revitalization of our membership drive, the SAL chapter, and many, many good things coming in the future.
Also, if you have something you would like to submit to the newsletter, they can be sent to me at cedarwolf@yahoo.com, and please put Post 135 Newsletter in the subject line. Be aware that we have a very limited amount of space each month so there will be editorial restraints applied and we may compile items into a general listing...we'll see how it goes.
Again, my thanks,
Remember those who are not able to be with us,
Tony O'seland

Comrades:
Just a short note to let you know that we now have our checkbooks computerized for quick excess and updates (excess limited). This will enable us to create a number of reports showing cash flow, expense to income, etc. Any reports created will be available for your review at the Executive and Regular meetings. Keep in mind, that as in any business, financial information is confidential and will remain within the Post.
After the first of the year our bank will be on-line which will further enhance our ability to stay completely current with our finances. If you have questions bring them to our meeting on Thursday January 10th and hopefully we will be able to give you a satisfactory answer.
