It is almost Thanksgiving alreadyand it happens every year that the Holidays come and go so fast. It is probably for that reason that some of you have not gotten your dues paid yet. As a remminder that they should be paid before the first of the year so as not to be late. For you that don't know it yet, the dues have gone up to $20.00 this year. Just like everything else. You can drop them off at the bar or give to our President, Lorene Adams. Don't forget the Casino night on New Year's Eve, for members only and we are also getting ready to get the Christmas baskets ready for the Veteran's. If you wish to help it would be appreciated. This is a project we do twice a year. They really do appreciate it. Bill Johnson Sr. is in charge of it and the Auxiliary is glad to help out.

News from the Ladies Auxiliary: I would first like to acknowledge everyone who volunteered at the Chalupa dinner and those who came by and ate lunch with us making it a great day. Thanks! We are thrilled that one of our newest members Billie Walker has hit the ground running. She recently represented the Ladies Auxiliary at a 9/11 wreath ceremony held at the Armory Building. She has graciously agreed to act as our VA rep as well. We just want to remind everyone that the Halloween Carnival is creeping up on us and donations of candy and/or cash are needed. There is a box in the bar for candy donations or if you want to leave money at the bar we will purchase the candy for you. Our next meeting on October 8th will be a lot of carnival planning so hope to see you there. Great plans are underway for a Casino night so mark your calendar and plan on spending New Years Eve at the Legion. There will be further details coming but the Casino Night will be entertainment for ages 18 and above only. It will also be restricted to members, their family and friends.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Janice Rajnowski for a speedy recovery. We miss you a lot!

News from Auxiliary Unit 135:
The ladies Auxiliary met on July 9th at 6:00. It was voted upon that Brenda Fears and Sandy Cooper would be sent to the Convention in Oklahoma City to represent our Unit.
We decided to have a couple of fund raisers in the next couple of months. We will be having a Chalupa Dinner on August 22nd from 11:00 till we run out. The price is going to be 3/$5.00. Also on Sept. 12th we will be having a loaded baked potato lunch. We would like each Aux. Member to donate $5.00 for the cost of the potatoes. All help is welcome and very much appreciated. We will be serving from 11:00 till we run out.
Instillation of the officers will be held on Wed. Aug. 12 after the Potluck.
Nancy, Brenda H., Betty and myself delivered the Independence Baskets to the VA hospital in Muskogee on July 23rd. It was an enjoyable and memorial experience that we will never forget. The patients were very grateful and so was the volunteer staff. We also want to thank the Elks lodge for there contributions to this cause. We will be doing the rest homes in the very near future.
Dues for the 2010 are now due. They are $20.00 and can either be sent to the Post at PO Box 471,Tahlequah, OK 74465-0471 or pay Nancy at the Lounge. That's it for now.
Thanks,
Emma Adams president

News from the Auxiliary:
It is that time of year again for nominations. The meeting was held on May 14th at 6:00. Nominations were taken for the 2009-2010 term. Emma Adams and Peggy Connell were nominated for president. Come out and vote on June 11 at 6:00. Everyone must vote in person.
The Aux. has had a great, no a fantastic year. We started from scratch and now we actually have some money in the bank. Also our Poppy fund is doing well with sales of over $200.00 during the Memorial Season. We had a garage sale last month and it was a great success. Thanks to everyone who gave and helped work it those two days. We will be having another on July 30 and August 1st. It is a little soon to tell you about this, but this is the only newsletter that you will receive about this sale. If you would like to donate items, drop them off at the legion whenever possible.
We will be doing the VA baskets this July along with the Christmas Baskets. This will be the Independence Baskets. We need some help with items for these baskets. We are in need of motel size or sample size shampoo, conditioner, lotions, bar soap, and also emery boards, combs, toothbrush, toothpaste, and anything else they could use. We also include briefs, t-shirts and socks. If you would like to donate items or cash, just stop at the lounge. All items must be new.
This has been a learning experience for all of us in office this year, but we have done really good things for our members. I think for a new group we have been very sucessful. Also thanks to the guys for their support and help in all of our projects.
Also we will be starting our annual cereal drive. We did this last year and it was a great success. We are taking donations for the drive either in cereal or cash and helping out the food pantry with all these kids out of school If you would like to help the drop off point is the Americian Legion from 12-8 Monday thru Friday.
Thanks to all for your suppot.

April 9th Easter Egg Hunt
Another Easter Egg Hunt that went as expected. Everyone had fun and won a lot of prizes. The children were so excited and eager to get the eggs. It took the Legionnaires about an hour and a half to hide the eggs and about twenty minutes for the kids to find them. All in all it was a tremendous success this year as last. I think the adults had as much fun as the kids. The Auxiliary furnished a beautiful cake and punch and also the lunch afterward for the workers. We used the large plastic eggs this year which made it easier to stuff with the candy. We sure had good weather too. It was a little chilly early but it warmed up later. We are looking forward to next year.
Thank you,
Janice

The Auxiliary has had a very good year so far and with many plans ahead. The Easter Egg Hunt is on April 11 from 9:00 to 10:30, but we still could use some more plastic (large if possible) eggs. And more candy. There is a container in the the clubroom for both eggs and candy. If anyone wants to help I am sure we can find a job for you. Prizes are all lined up. If you would like to help with stuffing the eggs, we are going to be doing that after the potlucks on Wednesdays. We only have two more Wednesday Potlucks before April 11th and a lot of eggs to stuff. Our last Yard Sale was a terrific success. After the Easter Egg Hunt there will be a lunch for all the workers.
Plans are already in progress for a Yard Sale on Friday and Saturday, May 1st and 2nd. If you have any articles to donate you can arrange to bring them to the Legion. The setup date will be on April 30th.
Our membership has really jumped this year. We currently have 37 paid up members but we could use some more members to come to the meetings. Remember, elections are coming up and if you would like to become an officer, you can contact any one of the nominating committee, Nancy Faber, Sandra Cooper, or Debbie Davis, and we will make sure you get on the ballot. Don't just assume that someone will do it.
We are also looking for new fundraising ideas. We need your help in all areas. Will we have your support at the next Meeting on April 9th at 60:00pm
For God and Country.

The Chili cook-off was a huge success. We had 6 entries and all of them were fantastic. The winner was Alberta Brown with a great Southwest Chili. Enticing us all with a side of Fry Bread. The club house was overflowing with testers. The day was enjoyed by all. We made $100.00 that will go towards the Vets fund. Thanks to all that cooked Chili for the testing. Everyone ate to their hearts content and very little was left.

Message from the Auxiliary President:
I would like to invite all members to come out and join us at our meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. We are having a Valentine Day Dinner on February 7 th at 4:00 p.m. Tickets sold in advance at the bar will be $25.00 for couples and $12.00 for singles.
We are also planning our 3 rd. Annual Easter Egg Hunt. We will be taking donations of candy and Plastic Easter Eggs. (Large ones if you can find them). We will be putting candy and prizes in them. If you can help with this, let us know. Even for an hour. YOUR HELP IS APPRECIATED. Time and date will come later when we get closer to Easter. (Prizes have already been donated).
The past year has been good. We have raised money for different organizations and would like your help to do more of this kind of work. If you have any ideas, we would like to hear them, so come to a meeting and let us hear your ideas.
I want to thank all the Ladies for their work this past year. You have done a great job in getting things done and trying to make the Auxiliary bigger and better, with new ideas for the following year. I look forward to seeing you at our meetings or just come to Wednesday night Potluck dinners. We are still new and trying to make this Auxiliary work for the good of the Community and the Organization itself. With your help we can do just that. Thank You.
Peace
Emma L Adams, President

I want to thank everyone who volunteered and participated in our first all Post community project. It is a positive showing of our all of our going ons here in Oklahoma. We made a smashing point to the public of what the American Legion can do for you and then some. I was very proud of all of you, and watched in amazement the hard working volunteers under tremendous pressure to get it out in time, and making it a night to remember. I see it as a turning point to some of the negative comments against my positive comments about the post and the members, that I have been saying all along. This will show them! From a very grateful Commander; God Bless you and THANK YOU! Commander Wes.
